Knowle started brightly with Charlie Morris testing the home keeper, Max Court in the first minute. Court then got down well to his left to turn an Owen Ward free kick round the post. Sadly the corner came to nothing and this was a theme throughout the half with Knowle winning 6 corners in total with both Lewis Clarke and Lewis Cosgrove winning headers but not testing Court in the home goal.
Reece Hewitt shot wide from 15 yards and had an effort from 8 yards blocked before in the 27th minute George Seeley split the home defence with a through ball to Hewitt who spun on the edge of the box and shot across Court into the bottom left corner to give Knowle a deserved lead.
Inkberrow showed little going forward as Knowle continued to pin them back into their own half. Indeed their only efforts on goal during the half were a speculative long range effort that went harmlessly into the arms of Ben Maxwell and a sliced effort from 22 yards that went well wide. Clarke's header from and Ward free kick was well saved. Then in the closing minutes of the half Charlie Morris broke clear and passed on to Hewitt. The oncoming Court blocked his first effort and then was grateful to see Hewitt's follow up effort on the spin go wide of the right hand upright.
There was concern amongst Knowle supporters that they would regret not turning their first half dominance into a bigger lead and sure enough the home team came out re-energised at the start of the second half and won a penalty when Clarke felled their striker as he was about to shoot. Jay Higgins-Puglsey sent Maxwell the wrong way to convert and level the scores. This encouraged the home team further. The game became more scrappy with neither side creating many clear cut chances. Inkberrow were limited to 2 efforts, one straight at Maxwell and the other high and wide from distance. Knowle won a further six corners but without getting a clean effort on goal. Dylon Bennett shot wide from 22 yards and also headed a Zak Parsons cross wide from 8 yards before Hewitt shot straight at Court as Knowle struggled to restore their lead.
Knowle remain unbeaten but are struggling to convert possession into clear cut chances and goals. Hopefully they can look to put that right against Barnt Green on Bank Holiday Monday.
