Knowle FC Golf Day a success
Twenty seven members and friends turned up for the Knowle FC golf day at Robin Hood Golf course. Organiser Dave Sykes was handicapped by the inclusion in his team of Chairman Dave Ratcliffe who on his last visit to the course 2 years ago had taken 30 shots on the first two holes alone.
A foursome of ex-players Dave Cox, Jason Hall, Mark “Digger” Robinson and Andy Williams gave themselves the handicap of playing the day after Digger’s stag do.
Grant Harrison tried to give the Chairman and others hope by slicing his drive off the 1st tee into bushes with other participants having to take evasive action. However, he went on to par four holes. This along with excellent play from Jamie Skelding, who won the nearest the pin and longest drive competitions, and partners Neale Millward and Marc Nolan saw their foursome win the event.
Digger’s stag team overcame their hangovers to be runners up on count back from Rusty Smith, Jay Ali and Pat McGovern.
Many thanks to the support of Prime Accountants courtesy of Jamie Skelding who sponsored the prizes. Also, to Stuart Gould from the Vets team who provided a 3 course meal and gaming experience at the Broadway Casino in Birmingham which was auctioned off at the presentation.
In all £352 was raised towards the clubhouse fund and equally important all those who took part enjoyed playing on the excellent course at Robin Hood.
