Dave Sykes reports from Evesham
Knowle just love playing on the Vale of Evesham! After a tremendous performance against Littleton, the team were
determined to improve on last weeks under par show against Coventrians. They certainly did that as Inkberrow were beaten 6-0 in a rampant display that showed everyone how good Knowle are this season.
The first half was action packed with Knowle creating chance after chance but it exploded in the 35th minute when Brandon Hague headed on brilliantly for Odane Barnes to run clear and place the ball to the keeper's left. The ball hit either a wheel on the goal or a metal bracket that reinforced the goal frame. Both were two feet/50cm behind the line but the ball cannoned out back into play. Their keeper and all of their defence admitted it was a goal. The referee and linesman 'couldn't see' so no goal was given. Unsurprisingly, three cautions were issued.
Knowle had to grin and bear it and were pacified somewhat two minutes later when Tom Craine was brought down and the ref pointed to the spot. Tom took the kick himself but hit it tamely at the keeper. Two minutes later Zak Parsons hit an absolute screamer from the edge of the box. The resultant save from their keeper was just magnificent. So Knowle trudged off feeling very hard done by. They needed to focus on the second half.
Focus they did as within two minutes Brandon Hague smashed home a loose ball in the area after Odane had caused
havoc. Two minutes later George Seeley kept cool under pressure and steered the ball into the corner to put Knowle
two up. It was all Knowle. Their forwards combined brilliantly especially when Craine played a sumptuous through
ball for Odane to score number 3.
And then the highlight of the match. Zac Parsons picked up a short pass on the edge of a crowded penalty area and just wriggled his way through beating three men on the way and Brandon Hague before calmly chipping through a small gap that had appeared between the keeper and the post! The whole crowd stood to applaud a memorable goal.
Now four goals to the good Knowle were brimming with confidence, Number 5 followed soon with Parsons again the instigator as he created space for Odane to score his 10th of the season. Then Hague finished things off with his second and Knowle's sixth. Five or six more chances were missed in the dying moments of the game but frankly six goals was enough against game opponents.
